Serving our guests at the Connections Cafe is a
monthly event. |
The people of St. Paul’s have always been clear that what happens on
a Sunday morning is meant for life in the world. The history of the
parish reveals an ongoing awareness of needs, especially of economic
needs.
A founding member of the Bridge Ministry, we
participate monthly in the Connections Café lunch program, preparing
and serving meals to those in need. We also cook supper for
more than 150 people at the Central Iowa Shelter and support the Des
Moines Area Religious Council's Food Pantry program.
The
involvement of members is broad – from our
relationship with
our Christian companions in Swaziland, Scotland, and Sudan to Global
Warming issues to support of
local initiatives like the Dream Team and Re-Building Together Des Moines.
Being a Christian, to us, is about bearing the love of God to all
people every day, with special care for those who may be forgotten.
