The Cloisters of the Cathedral are actually active ministry groups
around which the parish has organized itself to best carry out the
Gospel in this place and this time – a way of organizing for mission
that is not static. It is a way enfolding people and
ministries to intentionally nurture existing areas of ministry and
to create space for new ones.
Architecturally, "cloisters" are both an open interior space for
people to gather and pray, and the way in and out of cathedrals.
Historically, in Rome and Jerusalem in the early centuries of
Christianity, religious people gathered in communities called
cloisters and from that prayerful springboard engaged in ministry in
their cities.
The cloisters are subdivided into
smaller groups called cells. If you are interested in joining any of
them, please contact the church office or any member of a cloister. |
