Every Sunday service, every special service, funeral, and
wedding relies on the Altar Guild. Members set up for
communion, put up the numbers on the hymn board, change the frontals
to match the liturgical season, wash and iron linens,
clean silver, arrange flowers, and make palm crosses.
They also serve as wedding coordinators and provide luncheons or
teas for funerals. The touch is light, often unnoticed only in
its absence, but there for every liturgical event.
The Altar Guild contributes to the fabric of worship through the use of funds raised
from Christmas and Easter flowers, weddings, and memorials.
Examples include the decorations used at Christmas, vestments worn
by the clergy, candleholders, and processional crosses.
This ministry is often unsung, but very rewarding.
