We are part of the Episcopal Church USA, a church inclusive of all
people, where all are welcome. Our roots are in the Church of
England, sometimes said to be a middle way between the Roman
Catholic and Protestant traditions. As such, our liturgy rests
solidly on meeting God both in Word and Sacrament. We are called to
examine what God is calling us to do and how we should live our
lives to follow Christ.
One of the original seven churches on "Piety Hill," St. Paul's has
long been committed to the city of Des Moines and especially to the
art and music community. Our
68-rank Casavant pipe organ is
unique to the area, as is our 25-bell carillon. The parish has
long cared for those in economic need in Des Moines as well.
All
baptized Christians are welcome at our Communion table! And those
who have not been baptized are invited to come to the altar rail for
a blessing. If you are looking for a spiritual home or would like
information about Baptism, please sign our guest book as you leave
worship, or introduce yourself to our greeters or clergy.
